Electroless Nickel Plating (ENP)
This term refers to the autocatalytic deposition of a nickel-phosphorus layer on the surface of a workpiece without an external current. Unlike in electroplating, no external power source is required.
This enables uniform and highly precise coating thicknesses, particularly for complex components. By incorporating varying concentrations of phosphorus, it is possible to achieve high corrosion resistance and good wear resistance. Subsequent heat treatment can significantly increase the hardness.
Chemical nickel is also referred to as hypoallergenic nickel, as virtually no nickel is released upon contact with the skin. It is used in a wide variety of fields, such as mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, electronics, medical technology, aerospace, and food processing.
